These beautiful kitchenalia pieces originated in India and are handmade from brass and wood. Due to the age, the paint from some of the handles has chipped, but this only adds to their rustic beauty. One specific jhara (3) has a hand-carved inscription around the rim in Gujarati.
They were originally used primarily to make boondi, which are small fried chickpea flour balls. They were also used as skimmers, to strain food or skim foam. Nowadays however, they could be used for a similar purpose, or as wall decor for any contemporary kitchen.
