This beautiful piece of Sakori (rag-woven) cotton mat dates back to the Showa Period (1920’s - 1930’s) originated from Morioka, Japan. It is handwoven from strips of recycled cotton fabric, forming a striped pattern with multiple colours including indigo, brown, black and off-white. These stunning neutral colours are an easy way to start incorporating antiques into your home and a stepping stone into building your collection. Although this is a stunning antique it does show signs of heavy wear, there are multiple holes, tears, frayed edges and areas of thinning throughout. Due to its condition, it is suitable for repair, study or use as material for reuse and patchwork. This would make for a perfect wall hanging, taking in its rustic charm and history.
The dimensions are as follows: 138cm by 163cm
