This beautiful little pot originated in China within the 1880s. It is hand-crafted from rosewood, also known as huanghuali in China. This barrel still holds all of its original metal-work including the brass band and iron rim. Unfortunately, due to the age of it, we have had to add a metal pin as it had lost its original. This does not take away the rustic beauty of this barrel however. The bottom of the barrel is made of elm so the durability of this piece is undeniably good. Originally, it would have been used as a general purpose storage barrel, storing all sorts of domestic items.
Nowadays however, it would make the most perfect planter for any garden!
