Description

Here we have a stunning, mid 20th century Chinese cabinet drawer, a classic example of traditional regional cabinetry. The main box structure is constructed from straight-grained softwood panels which have been assembled using traditional exposed interlocking corner joinery. The face features an inset, dark-lacquered rectangular panel, adorned with hand-painted Chinoiserie-style gold detailing, depicting a traditional nature motif with delicate floral blossom, foliage and perched birds. Central to the face is a naturally patinated brass ring pull which acts as the functional handle to slide the drawer. This piece would compliment any modern home particularly reproposed as a decorative box for storage.
