This beautiful trunk originated in Mongolia in the 1850s. The quality of this trunk is showcased through the hand-painted illustrations. The crane symbolises wisdom and good fortune whereas the dragonfly represents transformation and self-realisation. The butterflies symbolise transformation and renewal. The trees and the flowers symbolise elements of nature and growth. All this symbolism truly encapsulates the hidden beauty of Indian art. It also has all of its original ironwork and has a interesting barrel lid. Due to the age of this trunk, the inside has lost most of its first layer. However, this only adds to its rustic beauty as it lets the original wood shine through.
