These two beautiful pieces are known as juban (undergarment) and tabi socks, which originated in Japan, specifically Hanamaki City, Itwate Prefecture, within the Showa Period. These pieces were handmade with careful precision as they were worn by a child as protection. The sleeve ends of the juban and the tabi socks are hand-crafted from brush cotton, which was then dyed in a stunning deep red. Despite the age of them, the colours still hold their original beauty. Both pieces were found together within the same household, hence why they are being preserved as a pair.
This set would make stunningly unique wall decor, or stylish vintage clothing for a child!
Dimensions are as follows:
Juban: Sleeve end to sleeve end 77cm, W - 33cm, L - 27cm. Tabi: W - 9cm, L -29cm.
