These two stunning buddhas would have been hand-carved by a Laos tribe in the late 19th century. They are made out of tropical hardwood as appose to bronze as they people who hand crafted these probably could not afford bronze. Nevertheless, the quality of these buddhas can be seen through the effort and detailing that is showcased.
Large Buddha: This buddha is the larger of the two and has traces of polychromed paint which can be seen all over the buddha. Its intricate carvings emphasise the craftsmanship of this piece.
Small Buddha: The smaller of the two buddhas also contains traces of polychromed paint, with specific traces of white and yellow paint on the body of the buddha. Having very similar carvings to the larger buddha, the simple yet intricate carvings also showcase the effort put into the making of these buddhas.
