This beautiful little pot originated in China within the 1880s. It is hand-crafted from elm, which has then been stained to give it a lovely dark brown colour. This barrel still holds all of its original metal-work including the brass band and iron rim. The bottom of the barrel is also made of elm so the durability of this piece is undeniably good. Originally, it would have been used as a general purpose storage barrel, storing all sorts of domestic items.
Nowadays however, it would make the most perfect planter for any garden!
