Here we have an incredible handcrafted, German candle stick designed by Hugo Berger for Goberg, dating back to 1910. This beautiful piece really demonstrates the craftsmanship from the blacksmith as we can see the hammered wrought iron delicately constructed into a chamber stick with a riveted handle and a matching matchbox holder attached to the circular base, finished with a dark bronze/black patina. Manufactured in Schmalkalden, Germany this particular style of work thrived during the Jugendstil Movement (“Youth Style”) which aimed to modernize German Arts & Crafts. Goberg’s work was highly popular in the early 20th century and was noticeably sold through prestigious retailers like Liberty of London. This piece would compliment any modern home ranging from home decor to a hidden antique on your book shelf.
