These beautiful framed washi sheets originated in Japan within the early Showa Period. They were originally used as part of an administrative ledger, hence why they are filled with black and red annotations. They were then repurposed as feeding sheets for silkworms or as a work surface during sericulture tasks. Nowadays, we have showcased them with lovely black frames that accentuate the beauty of these antique pieces.
