This lovely furoshiki wrapping cloth originated in Japan within the Taisho period. It has been saffron dyed and the red text translates to: 'Patent License, Meisen Silk', which would suggest where it was originally from. The green text also mentions silk, but also translates to 'Xu Shibuya', which could be the owners name or makers mark. We believe it would have originally been used to wrap and protect silk that was sold from a shop. Nowadays however, it would make an interesting art decor piece for any modern home.
The dimensions are as follows: H - 134cm, W - 147cm.
