Here we have a beautiful pair of classic men's Punjabi Juttis, dating back to the early 20th century (signed date on the sole is 1943). These historic 1943 Punjabi Juttis exhibit a wealth of traditional craftmanship alongside the natural, delicate patina of an 80-year-old artifact. The shoes feature the classic "Salim Shahi" low-cut profile with deeply scooped side panels and a high, protective heel tab. The "Salim Shahi" design was popularized by and named after Prince Salim who later became the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, originally this style of footwear was an exclusive luxury as royal artisans used real gold and silver threads to adorn the exterior. Although fraying/aged the entire upper surface is covered in concentric rows of hand-stitched embroidery, creating a deeply textured, ribbed pattern across the vamp. These stunning shoes would compliment any modern home, considering how fragile they are it would be recommended to utilise them as a display item, whether kept in a case or placed as a centrepiece.
The dimensions are as follows: H: 8cm, W: 8cm, L:22cm per shoe
