This Tanjore Indian mixed metal bowl is made up of mostly bronze, with smaller details in silver and brass. It has been beautifully and intricately engraved with patterns and accents and imagery of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The underside has a lotus flower-like pattern extending out to flowers engraved around the whole circumference, then above that is the silver iconographic imagery, to the beads at the top. It most likely will have been used in a ritualistic manner.
Given its age it is in almost mint condition, the small marks on the inside of the bowl show its age and its use, a fine piece of history. Some of the silverwork has been slightly damaged but it doesn't detract from the bowls charm and elegance. Its a showstopper piece to have on any mantelpiece.
The dimensions of this this bowl are as follows- H - 11.5cm, L - 11.5cm, W - 6cm.
