Early 20th century Chinese wash bowl with the original brass insert. A beautiful thing! Originally used as basin to wash your face etc. Lacquered with oxblood red, wood cut sections held together by brass bands, simple yet effective design!
This particular wash bowl is in good condition, although it is missing its top brass band. And there are a couple of chips missing from the lip, but it adds to its authenticity.
Something to consider is that the bands are original, so the wood has had decades to dry and warp etc so they will never be as solid as they once were.
We think they would make the most amazing modern day sink. or even a planter.
The dimensions of this bowl are as follows - L - 53cm, W - 41cm, H - 14.5cm.
