Here we have a stunning 1920's, British teardrop light. This piece features a wide, polished solid copper gallery cap (witches hat styled) with a step design, secured by dome-headed brass screws around the rim. At the very stop, a solid brass collar connects to a brass hook, a sturdy design to support the weight of the fixture, we have added old gold twisted flex. Below the copper gallery a clear, mouth-blown glass bulb that tapers down into an elegant teardrop shape, ending in a distinct pinched glass tip. Prior to the 1920's, the vast majority of British households and business relied solely on gas lighting. In the years following WW1, the United Kingdom underwent rapid national grid expansion - creating a market for lightning designers who didn't have to incorporate bulky ventilation for gas. This light has been fully re-wired, fitted with a B22 bayonet bulb holder and meets the UK safety regulations. This piece would compliment any modern home, especially as an statement piece above a kitchen island, dining table or in the entryway.
