Description

This interesting piece of fabric originated in Japan within the Bakumatsu period. The beautiful hand-painted calligraphy describes the information of a birth. The main text translates to 'Omiya Taigagen' which we believe is the name of the child. The smaller text translates to 'Bunkyu 2nd Year' which is 1862, and 'September due date' giving us the dates of when the child was meant to be born. Due to the age of this piece, there is some wear on the bottom, but we believe that this only adds to its rustic charm.

The quaint uniqueness of this textile makes an easy staple piece in any contemporary home.

The dimensions are as follows: H - 157cm, W - 32cm.
