This stunning Anglo-Indian wardrobe originates from the 1860s and is made from solid teak and has many unique features, making it stand out as a piece. This wardrobe comes in two parts: the top half, which can be used as a cabinet and the bottom half which can be used as a chest.
The top half of this gorgeous piece was made to a very high quality. It contains numerous small and large drawers inside the cabinet and two brass carry handles on the side. On the doors it has 2 hand made, mercury mirror plates which do have some foxing around the edges. This only adds to the rustic look this piece delivers. It has a lovely front ceramic handle and it does have certain handles missing, but this does not take away from the beauty and originality of this wardrobe.
The bottom piece has passing resemblance to a military campaign chest that would have been used to store military equipment and clothes as it was a versatile piece of kit due to ability to break down into smaller boxes. The high quality is showcased through the heavy teak draws and the recessed metal handles. It has its own originality as it has a hidden draw which would have been used to keep valuables hidden. This especially makes this Anglo-Indian wardrobe stand out.
