Here we have a pair of vintage original, framed lithograph prints of Sant Tukaram, dating back to the early 1920's. These lithographs depicts the highly revered 17th century Hindu poet-saint and social reformer Sant Tukaram from Maharashtra, India. He played a pivotal role in the Bhakti Movement, a spiritual wave that emphasized personal devotion to God over rigid rituals and caste divisions. Tukaram was globally celebrated for composing over 4,500 poems (Abhanngas) covering topics such as intense spiritual yearning to sharp critiques of social injustice and hypocrisy. These portraits are colour lithograph prints, a lithograph is a type of print made by drawing an image on a flat stone or metal plate with greasy materials, the transferring it to paper sing natural repulsion of oil and water. These beautiful portraits have been fitted with a black frame with gold detailing, adding a modern touch to a vintage piece.
