This beautiful tabletop shrine originated in China in the early 1860s. This shrine is truly one of kind with its original burgundy lacquer and intricate hand carvings. It is made from a mixture of soft woods and has unique elements such as the dove tail joints. It contains a single draw and due to the age of this piece, the handle has had to be replaced but this only adds to the quality that this shrine holds.
It would have originally been used for worship and prayer within the home. Nowadays however, it can be used as a decorative item for your home!
