Description

This stunning box originated in India and is known as a Tikka box. This box was handcrafted from wood and has a faded rich red colour, apart from the inside which is stained orange from the powder. It has a circular shape with a distinct hand-carved lid on top. Originally, it was used to store sacred powders such as kumkum powder or vermillion. They are then used for applying a bindi or tilak on the forehead during religious ceremonies or as a cultural mark.

Nowadays, this box would make a unique jewellery of trinket store.
