Description

Here we have a traditional Japanese Tetsubin cast iron kettle, From the Iwate Prefecture and dates to the Taisho Period. This stunning piece has a distinctive, cylindrical body with a wide, flat lid and a thick, arched stationary handle. Externally this kettle portrays the traditional “hada” (skin) rough, grainy texture beautifully - this texture is created during the moulding process and is a hallmark of handmade Japanese ironware. The ribbed “finial” (knob) has two functional purposes: heat dissipation and enhanced grip. The vertical ribs increase the surface area which encourages the cooling process and the textured surface allows for better grip. If you like to get creative with your home decor we could see this piece being used as a unique planter, holding light plants like air plants or cascading “string of pearls”.

This Kettle does hold water.

The dimensions are as follows: H: 25cm L: 21.5cm W:18cm
