This is a stunning example of a Chinese jardiniere. This jardiniere originated in Shang-Don in the 1920s. It is made from rosewood and has hand-carved carvings of bats all along the top and within Chinese culture, bats symbolise good luck. It has 2 shelves, and the bottom shelf has been uniquely carved to form a pattern on the bottom shelf.
Originally, it would have been used to display domestic items. Nowadays it can be used similarly or as a side table.
