Late 19th Century Japanese Blue Cotton Cloth with Mandarin Duck Patterns

Description

This beautiful piece of fabric originated in Japan within the Meiji period. It was handmade from cotton and showcases a mandarin duck pattern, which was created using a method called 'Tsutsugaki'. This method includes using a single application of rice paste before dyeing, creating a simple blue and white pattern when dyed. Originally used as a cotton cloth, this fabric would make perfect wall decor for any modern home.  

Dimensions are as follows: H - 34cm, W - 148.5cm.
