This beautiful piece of fabric originated in Japan within the Meiji period. It was handmade from cotton and showcases a mandarin duck pattern, which was created using a method called 'Tsutsugaki'. This method includes using a single application of rice paste before dyeing, creating a simple blue and white pattern when dyed. Originally used as a cotton cloth, this fabric would make perfect wall decor for any modern home.
