This 19th Century Chinese sideboard originated from the Shandong area in North China. Its very typical of the Ming Dynasty style, made from elm and with the original circular and rectangular brass fittings.
There are traces of burgundy lacquer within it but it has been kept to its natural elm wood colour, which is quite unusual for this style of furniture. The figure of the wood is really pronounced and displays beautiful contrast within the grain.
Traditionally used as a storage cabinet for highly prized goods, it will now make the perfect sideboard in the modern home.
