This 19th Century Korean Bandaji chest, of Joseon Dynasty, is in stunning condition, with all the original ironwork, lacquer and lock. The ironwork has been carved extremely intricately with patterns of flora on rectangle and diamond shaped plates, in an aesthetically pleasing symmetrical design. The original lock is stunning. The wood is a deep, dark colour, still showing the magnificent grain, its made from planks rather than one piece, cleverly dovetailed design on the top. The design is practical, a drop front half opening chest, and small drawers inside.
The chest will have been used as a travelling storage unit (note all the handles), for an important figure such as a military officer.
The dimensions of this chest are as follows- H - 82cm, L - 91cm, D - 47cm.
