A traditional Chinese Wedding Box from the late 19th Century, in mint condition. The original red lacquer is still very vibrant, as with the gold on the handle.
Its a decent size basket that would have been used for bringing gifts to newlyweds. The handle is extremely elaborate, depicting two fish and a deer carved into the wood. Half of the lid is removeable. The metal work; the banding and ornate clasp are original and in great condition.
It would make a fab statement piece in the modern home, a great little curio.
