A beautifully presented example of an early 20th Century Qing Dynasty altar table, from the Shanxi area of Northern China.
This burnt orange altar table will have been used for making offerings and burning incense. Its in amazing condition considering its age. We believe it will have been made from a mix of local softwood, such as poplar and fir. The cupboard handles are original, the drawer handles have been added at a later date. You can really see the layers of it years on the table top. The ribbon carved side panels give it a really soft feel, a stunning piece.
The intricate paintwork is still highly visible. With a large vase on both panel sides, filled with flora, and humbling village life; pagoda and Greeting Pine trees, on the cabinet doors. It's a real thing of beauty and history!
Today it would make the perfect sideboard or TV table.
The dimensions of this sideboard, are as follows- H - 89.5cm, L - 89.9cm, D - 40cm.
