This is a wonderfully unique microscope lamp, which is new to our collection. It's only a small lamp, but it's very characterful, and would look really stylish in any room of the home, adding a beautiful lighting ambience to wherever it is placed.
It likely dates to the 1940's, and we've only been able to find one other lamp similar to this one online. It has been fully rewired, PAT tested, and a new plug fitted. It has a brand new old English bulb holder fitted (B22), and has been attached with 2m of burgundy coloured twisted flex.
It has a great cast iron horseshoe-shaped base to the light, which adds a nice weight to the piece, the wording on the base reads, 'Ogilvy & Co London W C'. The shade of the light can be adjusted easily to whatever position by the wingnut at the side.
Although the copper shade has become blackened with age, if you fancied to give the light a different appearance, the shade could be polished back, to reveal the copper shine beneath.
Due to the lamp's age, it has naturally acquired some wear and tear over the years, but this just adds to the character of the little lamp.
The dimensions of this lamp are as follows- H - 17cm x W (at the base)- 12.5cm x W (at the shade) - 9.5cm.
